Säzän Group supported the revitalization of a legacy office building into a modern, flexible space for today’s workforce.

Säzän Group provided comprehensive electrical engineering and lighting design services for the complete renovation of a 160,000 SF office building originally constructed in 1974, along with the addition of a 7,000 SF maintenance and laboratory facility. Serving the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the Washington State Department of Ecology the project included full replacement of the existing electrical infrastructure, tenant improvements throughout the six-story building, and the integration of site enhancements such as electric vehicle charging stations. The team coordinated closely with the serving utility to deliver a modernized power distribution system while supporting the overall design-build delivery of this $38 million project.

As part of a full architectural renovation merging two state agencies into a single facility, the project demanded a highly coordinated and adaptable lighting and power systems approach. Säzän Group led efforts in power systems design, Revit-based coordination and clash detection, and energy-efficient lighting design that aligns with LEED Silver goals and a required 20-year equipment lifespan. The lighting strategy was developed to meet diverse stakeholder needs while meeting stringent energy code requirements, incorporating advanced controls, photometric analysis, and detailed documentation across all design phases. This integrated approach ensured a cohesive, high-performance environment that supports occupant functionality, sustainability, and long-term operational efficiency.
