NAVFAC SW Marine Corps Air Station Hangar 95 Renovation and Additions
Säzän Group provided ICT engineering services for the new construction and renovation of Hangar 95 and its supporting facilities at the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) in Yuma, AZ.
This project included a 16,998 SF addition to Hangar 95, designed to house administrative spaces and accommodate the operational requirements of the F-35B Squadron, as well as the construction of an 86,391 SF parking structure. The scope renovated 39,041 SF of existing space in Hangar 95, focusing on enhancing functionality, safety, and efficiency, along with upgrades to 114,862 SF of apron and 80,992 SF of taxiway to support expanded operations.
Our team played a role in the project’s initial evaluation. We developed electrical and telecommunications retrofit recommendations to align with UFC 3-301-01, UFC 3-310-04, and IBC 2015 codes, which were incorporated into the 15% concept-level design. The renovation of O1 spaces in Hangar 95 involved designing systems to support light wall relocations, maximize circulation, and improve utilization. These systems included electrical upgrades such as fire alarms, energy-saving electronic monitoring and control systems (EMCS), and information technology systems. Supporting facilities work involved designing and upgrading utility connections for electrical systems, and telecommunications systems.
We prioritized delivering innovative, functional, and safe designs to modernize Hangar 95 and ensure it meets the operational demands of the F-35B Squadron.
