The Indian Health Service (IHS), an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, provides federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. Their mission is to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level. The Phoenix Area IHS serves tribes in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah tri-state areas.

The IHS Fort Yuma Health Center needed to expand emergency power to allow the facility to remain operational during a power outage. Säzän Group provided electrical engineering services for emergency backup power for this 76,000 SF ambulatory care center facility. The center houses primary care, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, dental, and mental health services. The project scope included expanding emergency power for a second backup generator and reworking the electrical gear within the existing electrical room space to allow the facility to remain operational during a power outage while providing bussing to allow for a future photovoltaic system. Säzän Group conducted two field visits during construction.
