In September 2020, the Alameda fire destroyed more than 2,600 commercial and residential structures in Southern Oregon including the Phoenix Fire Station. A new building utilizes the existing footprint of the city hall, fire station, and police buildings to house each service in one complex.

The two-story building effectively collocates resources to expand public safety programs, acts as an emergency operations center, and hosts community-facing meetings and trainings. The new construction is among the first rebuilding efforts in the commercial district—a key to revitalizing the city’s downtown area.

Säzän Group designed the mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems, designed pathways for data telecommunications, building security and audio-video systems, provided design-build support for fire/life safety systems, and conducted whole building energy analysis that resulted in $38,000 in credit incentives from the Energy Trust of Oregon.

Funding for the project included Oregon HB 5006 funds, insurance, grants, and FEMA proceeds.
