Electrical Retrofit, Campus Auxiliary Power, and Renewable Energy
To correct electrical deficiencies and meet federal energy conservation mandates, Säzän provided electrical engineering and associated mechanical engineering services to retrofit VAMC’s 2.5 million square foot campus’ medium-voltage electrical distribution infrastructure.
Work included an electrical analysis to establish campus-wide peak power demands as a basis for equipment size selections and the use of optical fiber interconnections between the switchgear and the campus communications network for status alerts, monitoring, and remote annunciation. Säzän also renovated a historic maintenance building on site to house the new 15kV switchgear and generator control systems. The renovation included fire alarm, new security access system, mechanical engineering for HVAC to cool the electrical equipment, plumbing, and fire sprinklers.
