An Associate Principal, Geoff manages the Mechanical Department for Säzän Group's Oregon region, developing client relationships and motivating teams to success. As an Eagle Scout that served in the US Coast Guard, he has a passion for collaboration and thrives in a team environment and he continuously pushes to improve the quality of our mechanical standards and details.

With experience working on the design and construction sides of the industry, Geoff brings a unique perspective to projects. He utilizes his understanding of the construction process to plan projects and foresee possible challenges. As a licensed Professional Engineer, his responsibilities include thorough knowledge of current and applicable codes, researching HVAC equipment, and analyzing existing systems for inefficiencies and failures.

Geoff is currently serving as the Government Affairs Regional Vice Chair for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Oregon Chapter where he works to motivate, encourage, and assist Government Affairs Chapter Chairs within the region to conduct Government Outreach at all levels of government. Government Affairs Chapter Chairs are the frontline representatives of ASHRAE Standards, Guidelines, Public Policy Information Briefs (PPIB’s), Public Policy Priorities (PPP’s), Position Documents (PD’s), and Task Forces, to Government Officials and entities. He is a Past President of the ASHRAE Oregon Chapter and the 2021 recipient of the ASHRAE Presidential Award of Excellence. He is also a former Board Member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Portland Chapter.

He is frequently sought out in our industry as a speaker in panel discussions focused on the strengths and weaknesses of various project delivery methods. He earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from Portland State University and completed the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) Project Management Institute Program.

Mountains, coast, or desert?
Coast because I was in the Coast Guard. Also, there is nothing more awe-inspiring yet peaceful in the world than the ocean.
