Hazel Heights Apartments

Säzän Group provided engineering services for a pioneering affordable housing community that helps individuals and families transition into stable, long-term housing.

Hazel Heights was the first development completed under Central City Concern's Housing is Health initiative, a collaborative effort to expand access to affordable housing and supportive services in Portland. The community includes 153 one- and two-bedroom apartments across three residential buildings, including permanent supportive housing units designed to help residents achieve long-term housing stability. Shared amenities and convenient access to public transit and community resources support resident well-being and independence.

Designed to maximize housing opportunities within a limited budget, the project emphasizes durable, easy-to-maintain living spaces and efficient building systems. Standardized MEP systems, centralized domestic hot water, and thoughtfully selected equipment help reduce long-term operating and maintenance costs while providing comfortable, reliable housing. As the first development completed under the Housing is Health initiative, Hazel Heights demonstrates how affordable housing and supportive services can create a foundation for improved health, stability, and opportunity.
