Campus Safety Voice Annunciation System
Western Washington University
Emergency voice annunciation systems allow campuses to alert faculty, staff, and students on-campus 24/7 in an emergency.
For Western Washington University, Säzän Group implemented an integrated mass notification system using the campus’ existing fire alarm system. Säzän engineers implemented system software and interface modules to enable single input voice messages to be distributed using existing campus network infrastructure to fire alarm speakers throughout the campus.
Säzän provided a thorough site investigation of 28 campus buildings to verify the types and locations of existing fire alarm devices and designed system modifications, network integration hardware, video-feed for IP cameras, and power design so circuits would support the new system.
Fire alarm-speaker annunciation units are now located in select buildings and exterior locations on campus with large speaker arrays and IP video cameras on three rooftop locations to give faculty, staff, and students immediate information in an emergency.
